The alphabatized lists have been abstracted from the Roman Catholic parish register book of the Sint Lambertus Church of Horst, Limburg, The Netherlands, 1735 to 1774.

The order that I have used to record the data - Surname of father, child's name, date, if illegitimate noted here with term 'illeg', s/o means 'son of' and d/o means 'daughter of', father's first name, then mother's full name if given in document or NN for 'no name' if not recorded.

Alphabatizing rules used for names like 'van BEUGEN' will be listed under B as 'BEUGEN, Aldegondis van' or 'Joannes van de VEN' as 'VEN, Joannes van de'

Other information in book might include the name of the Priest who baptised the child, and the names of the Godparents or Witnesses. In some cases the actual birth date is recorded and may be different from the baptismal date.

NOTE: ALL DATES ARE BAPTISM DATES - even if actual birth date was recorded in the document. Please use this index only as a guide and look at the actual record yourself.

NOTE: Names have been transcribed as close to the original as possible. Therefore you will see many different spellings as the Priests all had their own idea of how to spell these names. So look for all the alternate spellings. Also back in the early records people were often known by an 'alias' or as the son of another person. Example - on the marriage record of Jacobus SMITS the son of Lambertus SMITS, he is listed as SMITS. But on all of the birth records for his children he is called Jacobus LAMBERTI. So be sure to check this possibility. If I know the 'alias' or real family name I will try to add the record in both sections. But, there are many that I do not know.

This page, and this section are under construction. Look for additions in the future. WARNING: These entries have not been proofread yet. These are my rough notes and I hope to have the sections proofread soon.

The section listing certain surnames were pulled from all the records of birth for Horst that I could find. These were names of particular interest to me. For those of you who do not have access to the actual book they can be viewed on LDS Film #110070 and #110071. On some of the records the Priest indicated not only the day of the actual birth, but in many cases the hour of day. So be sure to to go to your local Latter Day Saints Family History Library and look at the actual films to get full information.

For those of you who would just like to browse by year I have added the transcription by years. For the most part the little groups indicate what was on each page. Since there are no page numbers on the pages this seemed the best way to indicate placement on a page. NOTE: From Sept 1755 to Oct 1756 there are a lot of unreadable entries and some questionable entries. Use these with caution! Go here to see what was readable on each page. These are not in alphabetical order.
