In the bygone days the people grew their own flax and then after processing it they did spin it on a spinning wheel to make thread. Flax is like straw and it is stiff, but after soaking and brushing it, the flax turns into a very soft fiber. After they spun it into thread they sent it to a weaver to make linen fabric for sheets, towels and clothes.
